Founded in 1986 as a small lighting showroom in South Surrey, Ocean Pacific Lighting began with big ambitions, setting the tone for a business built on determination. But by the early 90s, the company faced a pivotal moment when it neared closure. Instead of shutting its doors, OPL underwent a complete transformation under new leadership whom had saw untapped potential and were driven to rebuild the business. With only a team of 4 and a single work van, the company began its steady climb, fueled by commitment and a vision to create something greater.
As demand grew, Ocean Pacific Lighting outgrew its original space and relocated multiple times, first to Central Plaza in White Rock, and later, into its current 30,000 sq. ft. headquarters on Croydon Drive. Each move reflected not just operational growth, but an expanding reputation for reliability, expertise, and service.
From its early beginnings as a local retail showroom, Ocean Pacific Lighting has evolved into one of Canada’s leading lighting suppliers. With its newly formed division, “OPL Projects”, Ocean Pacific Lighting’s portfolio spans from residential packages, large-scale developments, commercial buildings, and major project work across both Canada and the United States. With offices in Vancouver and Los Angeles, Ocean Pacific’s reach extends continentally, supported by a track record of over a billion square feet of completed project work and more than 800 million dollars in lighting solutions delivered.
What makes this 40-year milestone especially meaningful is not just the scale of our growth, but the values that carried us here. Through every challenge, our commitment to quality, innovation, and community has remained unwavering. Ocean Pacific Lighting has been proudly owned by Sean Seyler and Doyle since 1992. Since Doyle’s retirement, Seyler remains working alongside his three eldest children, operating as a truly family-owned company, one that reflects the continuity of dedication to building a future that honors its past.
Today, Ocean Pacific Lighting stands as a reflection to perseverance, adaptability, and the power of strong partnerships. Four decades later, we remain energized by the same drive that fueled our earliest days, continuously evolving, expanding our capabilities, and embracing new opportunities in a rapidly changing industry.
